MOKO dehydrated.....

hi friends..
sorry havent been able to keep up with the swine flu post..At the moment im very busy looking after my new 'adopted' kitten. i called her MOKO hehe... Shes the youngest among the siblings; iwo and ginger. Iwo is female and ginger is male, though my friends says ginger is a gurlie name. But i dont care, i called it ginger because of the colour. Right now, moko is sitting on my computer table in a box resting.

Its nearly a week now, moko is with me. When i first saw her, she was so weak, very tiny, had cold and both eyes infected. She had been lying in the drain, soaked in water. So surprised she survived, well may be shes a fighter. Brought her to see the vet and was given antibiotic. She looks much better when compared to when i first saw her.

However, last night she started to have diarrhea. This morning when i woke up, i saw her lying helplessly in the basket... So decided to bring her to see the vet again. The vet said that she is dehydrated. He prescribed moko with diarrhea med. He advised me to give human ORS (oral rehydration solution) to keep her electrolytes. He added to keep her warm. Hope she will make it this time. At this very moment she's sleeping:)...

heres, some info on diarrhea and dehydration in kitten...

sWinE Flu....

hi my dear friends.... currently the world is being attacked by another enemy hehehe. So small, yet so dangerous n so deadly; the "swine Flu"

I'm not going to talk about what it is...or how can we protect ourselves and so on... Because all these info are readily available on the net:) well, indirectly im just saying that im a bit lazy to do the research hehehe

What is this virus exactly? is it a new strain of virus? or just the same typical flu virus when we have cold, and has mutated/ evolved? Or is it some form of biological weapon:) which has been activated with time (kind of a time bomb???)...

All of these qns leads us thinking... why? why now? what for? are we prepared for this pendemic? any vaccine continue part 2...

Eagle Eye

hi all....
Its been a while i havent updated this blog.Been quite busy with work hehe... can create a new blog let see ..'busylives.blogspot.com'. hmmm sounds good.

This morning something odd happened. Around 9am, the door bell rang...ting tong, ting tong, ting tong, ting tong... and stopped. Then it rang again, ting tong, ting tong, ting tong.... Then,I openned the 'stucked' front door (struggling 4 few seconds) and nobody was there. I was confused. Then i looked down, saw a white kitten at the front door (came from nowhere). It moved away. To my surprised i saw the kitten was dragging its body with its 2 front legs. Both hind leg appeared paralyse. My heart sank...

Then got dressed n brought the kitten to c a vet. The vet checked if the nerve supply to both legs are still good. Phew... it can feel. So the vet gave 2 injections. He said that will boost its immune. Have to see after a week on its progress... The vet also gave us 3 meds to administer.

It looks so cute n upset:( Lets pray and hope it survive n walk again....)

Still thinking of this morning incident, who might have left the kitten at the front door just like that,,, hmmmm i wonder =I

I'll show u her pics once i got the time to take her photos...... I named her Eagle Eye... with that name i hope she will be strong ...

CLass DEcoration UPDATED

hi there,

Lots of my friends keep on asking about the class decorations. They told me that the last post on class deco was not explained in details. Ok, here are the steps:

1. print different patterns and sizes of flower picture (or any pictures that you like)
2. paste it on manila card / any hard paper. This will be the template. Make as many template as you want.
3. using this template on coloured paper, cut the edges. use multi-coloured papers, so you will have many colour combinations later on. TIPS- ask your students to do this part, as it will quicken the process and also can be made a class project.
4. the result will be fabulous, finally you can paste it on the wall...

see previous post for sample, enjoy...

Muara Beach

Peace... hi, welcome to Muara beach. It is located at Muara town. It is about 20 mins from Bandar Seri Begawan. Muara is the malay word for estuary. As Brunei is a tropical country, i recommend afternoon is the best time, may be after 4pm to enjoy the beach and to see the beautiful sun set. You can bring your own foods or if you are too busy or don't have time to bring your own, don't worry, there are foods stalls available within walking distance. On saturday and sunday, are normally the busiest time, especially after 5pm. The beach golden sand is ideal for strolling and sunbathing. What else? .. oh yes, taxi is limited in Brunei. But the purple buses are widely served here. The bus station is in Bandar Seri Begawan and the Eastern Line buses 33, 37, 38 and 39 are the buses serving that route.

Tasek Lama Recreational Park

As usual we do our daily routine that is afternoon hiking and jogging at Tasek Lama. Tasik Lama is one of recreational park in Brunei. It is also one of the oldest declared nature reserves in Bandar's interior precincts. It has a trail that leads to a natural waterfall and lake, and 8 metre wall for wanna be climbers. We took some photos just now. The place has changed a lot. unfortunately, we had problems with our card reader. Not branded card reader hehe... to give you some idea of how Tasek Lama looks like, we posted some old photos.
Once we sorted this card reader problems, we will post them and you can see the difference.
This suspension bridge is no longer there.

Tasek Lama is just 15 mins stroll from Jubilee Hotel. (go to Jubilee Hotel in Blog Archive:JULY )

Asparagus & Celery

hi, gd morning... we just finished having our breakfast. our main menu are asparagus and celery (spot it in the soup hehe). malina and knon had two serving but with no potato for the 2nd serving. I had 4 serving with no potato for the last 2. did it sound a lot for breakfast? hehe... ok but don't forget, Breakfast - like a King
Lunch - like a Queen
Dinner - like a pauper

Asparagus & celery are one of those vegetables that we always buy, our fridge never run out of it. DO you know why?... this is because they are not easily rotten. here are some information i would like to share on these 2 veges which i got from Reader's Digest. ASPARAGUS: The benefits
  • Rich source of folate
  • Useful source of beta carotene, vitamin C & vitamin E
  • Diuretic & mild laxative
the drawback
  • Contain purines which may precipitate an attack of gout
How to cook, simply with lightly boiled or steamed.

CELERY
the benefits
  • May help to lower cholesterol levels & blood pressure
  • helps to relieve joint pain
  • Low in calories
  • Good source of potassium
the drawback
  • May be high in nitrates (reduce the ability to carry oxygen)
the concentrations of nitrates varies. Factors may include, individual soil conditions, light intensity, particular plant species and the kind of fertilisers used. However, while vegetables such as celery, lettuce and spinach can be eaten in moderation, they should not be eaten in large amounts over a long period. Such as, a major part of slimming diet. Cooking celery by steaming or lightly boiling will help to reduce the nitrates levels.

ok, i hope for those that have no idea at all about these 2 veges, may find these information useful....

Mouth Ulcer

Today, i don't feel well. my body temperature fluctuate, may be due to my 3 mouth ulcers.
i hate this feeling, i hate it... i hate it.... why me.. why.. why i have to experience this ugly & awful disease. today is my 2nd time to have 'them' for this year, thank god. before i wore my braces, i got them every months, usually more than 1 and they lasted for 2 to 3 weeks, depends on how big their size. i cant show you my mouth ulcer as i cant open my mouth widely, its hurt. the big ulcer is on the palatoglossal arch (the painful ones), on my lower lip and on my left upper gum. because of this i can called myself an expert in mouth ulcer pain. Around the lip, tongue and arch are the sensitive and painful areas for mouth ulcerian. especially if you are like me, love to talk, talk and talk... use more the lip and tongue, love to eat, eat and eat ... the arch. people like me who love to talk and eat would know how i feel. i think, i dont know for sure. the braces helped me very much, it helped to thicken my gum & make it less sensitive. that might be the reason why i got less ulcers since. i took off my braces in march this year. this homepage mouthulcer.org (just click on the title) will explain more futher about ulcers. i read them everytime when i got ulcers. just to sooth myself that i'm not alone with this curse in this world...

'Hotel'

Just now we were reminiscing about our hotels memories during our past travels. There are so many memories & stories, funny, scary and so on. Here, we would like to share our scary story about a 'hotel' in Bangkok, Thailand. On our journey back to Brunei from Phuket, we ran out of travelling cash. So we chose the cheapest hotel we could afford, for 2 nights. They were 4 of us, so we booked 2 rooms. the hotel was old, big & gloomy. when we entered the room, we could feel chill running into our bones and old smell. All furnitures including TV looked ancient. suddenly, all scary thoughts keep 'popping' out of our heads, hence we decided to sleep together in 1 room. Around 1 am, late G-ta and I felt something hairy touching us. We screamed loudly and waken malina & Knon. So, we hug each other and felt shaken. The next morning, after packing we couldn't wait any longer to go to the airport. we slept 1 night on the airport bench. We slept like babies (very tired & sleepy). Until now, it remains a mystery. May be its just our mind playing tricks or perhaps there was something... boooo..

From that day, onwards we only only choose hotels that are listed, rated & well known.
(The pictures were taken not far from the hotel)

Transportation: Water Taxis

The Water taxis are the most common means of transportation at Kampung Ayer. Fares ranges from ($SG)50cents to about $SG 15. It depends on the distance. You can hail or wave to get the water taxi. So, if you happen to be strolling near the river bank, remember to not raise your hand (wave). The water taxi is an ideal way to view the Kampung Ayer up-close. Enjoy the ride...
